Hello

I'm Melissa Burns, an experienced Instructional Production Specialist with a keen interest in blending creativity, education, and technology. My background in English and love for storytelling and visual arts lend to my enjoyment for transforming complex ideas into engaging, creative, accessible, and meaningful learning experiences. Currently, I work at Penn State World Campus, where I collaborate with designers, instructors, and tech teams to build high-quality online courses.

My journey in educational technology has been shaped by my deep appreciation for learning and my belief that education should be inclusive and engaging for all students. My recently completed Master's degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from Penn State has strengthened my commitment to creating inclusive, engaging educational experiences. Through this rigorous program, I've developed expertise in applying research-based frameworks to solve real instructional challenges. I bring both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Canvas - skills I've applied daily in my work supporting faculty with online course development. This combination of academic training and practical application allows me to develop learning solutions that are both pedagogically sound and technologically effective.

Beyond work, I love reading, exploring creative projects, and continuously seeking ways to blend storytelling with learning design. This portfolio is a reflection of my passion for building innovative, learner-centered experiences—feel free to explore, and let’s connect!
